On 4chan's /v/ board, the question was asked today, "What went so unfathomably right?"...about the PlayStation 4 version of Persona 5. The game was released in Japan on September 15, 2016. The worldwide release was on April 4, 2017. It was developed and published by the Atlas company.

Here are some of the best replies...

>Improvements to the Combat System
>Confidants unlock abilities and new things to toy with
>All the Velvet Room upgrades
>Dat Soundtrack
>Voice work was alright too
>Actual fucking dungeons
>Tartarus 2: Tartarus Harder for the P3 fans
>Mementos idle chat
>All the optional hang outs
>That final boss

>Nobody shuts the fuck up during dungeons
>Seriously just let me do the thing god damn
>That final stretch where they remembered there was supposed to be a plot after the twist
>Mishima getting constantly dunked on during the optional hang outs
Better inclusion of Social Links into the main plot (sort of), more importantly they just had more utility.

Tokyo was legitimately fun to walk around, quite a few areas and especially great at night with the music.

Non-random dungeons was a step in the right direction, they still needed more interesting design in some places.

SMT mechanics.

Lots of choice in waifus.

Stylish UI.

Overall it's just a very enjoyable game, most dividing thing seems to be the main cast but I quite liked them (even Morgana) so that wasn't a problem for me.
seeing how they went FULL STYLE with the menus and shit, and then how the characters seem so happy to be fucking shit up in the metaverse... it was good. i was really worried it was going to be persona 4 again but there was plenty enough to make it stand out
Getting rid of boxes whenever possible was nice, as was the ability to press a button to perform something rather than scroll though a menu

P4 feels so clunky in comparison now
UI overhaul was great, as was reintroducing negotiation and making dungeons have a consistent layout.

Otherwise the characters are still pretty flat and the story is meh
Only the gameplay and Joker himself went right. Everything else was either the same as the previous games or worse like the rest of the characters. It's a real shame that almost a decade wait and Atlus just throws the same shit on the plate with some new garnishes.

P3 is definitely still the best game with P4 trailing behind it.
They took their time with it.

Seriously, every game now is rushed to hell and back because they plan on releasing the later content through DLC and microtransactions. P5 had some costumes, but that's about it. The dozens of hours of content came first and the game was even delayed heavily because they knew that they wanted this game to be a work of art, and good art takes a fuck ton of time and patience to complete. Atlus is what went right.
